Dear Clinical Nursing Faculty,

I would like to invite you to participate in a research study.  This study is designed to determine: 1) the effect of simulation on clinical nursing faculty’s self-perceived competence in clinical nursing education, 2) the effect of simulation on clinical nursing faculty’s anxiety related to clinical nursing education, 3) clinical nursing faculty’s self-confidence and satisfaction with simulation as a teaching strategy during orientation, 4) clinical nursing faculty’s perceptions about clinical faculty orientation, and 5) clinical nursing faculty’s perceptions about the use of simulation for orientation. 

Participation in this study is strictly voluntary.  You may choose not to participate or choose to withdraw from the study at any time before the post-test questionnaires are completed.  Participation will in no way influence your employment as a clinical nursing faculty member.  Your employer will not know whether you are participating in the study or not. 

If you agree to participate in this research study, you will be asked to complete several online data collection instruments today on SurveyMonkey.  You will be asked to complete 3 data collection instruments before your orientation and 3-5 data collection instruments after your orientation.  The data collection instruments will take a total of approximately 30-40 minutes to complete; approximately 10-15 minutes before your orientation and approximately 20-25 minutes after your orientation.  After the completion of the post-test data collection instruments, your participation in the study will be finished.

            All information collected in this study will be completely anonymous.  You will not need to provide any identifying information on any of the study materials and your IP address will not be collected.  All data will be coded with a four-digit number that you will select (the last four digits of your cell phone) to allow for correlation between pre and post-test data. The data collected in this study will be used for publications, presentations, and future research studies.
