In a variety of clinical settings, nurse preceptors provide students and newly licensed registered nurses with guidance, supervision and role modeling to enhance the development of the knowledge, skills and attitudes that are necessary for professional nursing practice.  Online preceptor development programs and resources are one method that can be utilized to enhance the preparation of nurse preceptors.  Improving preceptor development has the potential to impact the competencies of students and new graduates thus ensuring the provision of safe and effective patient care.
